The Dillwood Farms Community Supported Agriculture Program

***WE ARE CURRENTLY MAXED OUT FOR CSAS UNTIL SPRING. Unfortunately we will not be able to accept any other members until the spring season beginning mid April. We will start sign ups for spring season CSAs beginning March 1st.***

Dillwood Farms offers two types of CSA programs in order to reach as many people as possible. In addition to offering a local CSA program where members pick up their bags from our farm in Loganville on Friday afternoons, we deliver CSAs to several Atlanta area neighborhoods and businesses where bags are available for pick up on Thursday afternoons. Find out more information below to determine which option would be the best for you.

Sign Up for the Local CSA Available for Pick Up at our Farm

If you live in the Loganville, Snellville, Grayson or other surrounding areas, then this CSA is best for you. Bags are available for pick up at our farm Fridays from 3pm to 7pm. If you’d like to sign up, call Haley Bryant at (404) 310-3111 or email us at dillwoodfarms@yahoo.com with: 1. Your name 2. Whether you would like a full or half share 3. The week you would like to start picking up your CSA and 4.Whether you would like a one, two, or three month membership. Then mail a check made out to Dillwood Farms to our address: 4000 Brushy Fork Road, Loganville, Georgia 30052. Once we receive your payment, we will confirm your membership and you will be set to begin picking up your bags of the freshest, local produce around!

OR Organize a Dillwood Farms CSA in Your Atlanta Neighborhood

Want to have fresh, organic Dillwood Farms produce delivered to your neighborhood each week? We welcome all neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations in the Atlanta area to join our CSA program, and we make it easy for you to join. Here’s all you need to do:

1. Identify a neighbor who can serve as the main contact for the CSA. This coordinator will:

  • Communicate directly with the farm about produce availability and other farm-related issues
  • Secure a drop-off/pickup location in the neighborhood—be it a neighbor’s porch or a local business
  • Recruit new members to the CSA through email lists, neighborhood association meetings, and word of mouth

2. Once the coordinator is in place, he or she should:

  • Contact Haley Bryant at (404) 310-3111 or dillwoodfarms@yahoo.com, to let her know of the neighborhood’s interest
  • Contact neighbors to gauge interest in a neighborhood CSA. Here is one example of an email message a coordinator might send:

Hi, everyone,

I’m hoping to gauge interest in a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program with Loganville-based Dillwood Farms to determine if it’s something that would benefit both us and the farm.

Here’s how it would work: Every Thursday evening after 4, you would pick up your bag of produce at the clubhouse, pool, office (or wherever the drop off location is established). The produce will have been harvested the week of drop-off to ensure the highest quality, flavor, and nutrition.

Dillwood Farms is located in Loganville, Georgia, and owned and operated by Doug and Rosetta Dillard, with permission of the estate of Doug’s father, George Dillard, who started the farm in the 1950s. The Dillards are passionate about growing sustainable organic produce, and their Georgia-grown fruits and vegetables can be found at local restaurants like Holeman and Finch, Aria, Rosebud, and Murphy’s. If you are interested in participating, I will be organizing a sign up sheet and collecting checks by <a few days before the Thursday you wish to begin the CSA>. Or if you have questions, please email me at <your email address>. Thanks so much!

Ideally, we would like to have between ten and twenty members to start a new CSA—with the hope that more will join as the program continues!

  • Contact Haley Bryant when ready to begin placing orders
  • Collect the addresses of members in order to send out weekly email reminders about ordering, produce availability, and other farm-related news

FAQs

What exactly is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a partnership between local farmers and the people in their community. You become a member of our CSA and pay up front for your produce for one month. Each week we will put together a bag of 6 to 8 shares of produce from the farm and drop if off at your neighborhood’s selected drop off location that you can pick up every Thursday evening.

Why participate in a CSA?

Since our farm is in Gwinnett County, you get the freshest produce possible and are also eating foods that are in season. At Dillwood Farms, our crops are not sprayed with synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or preservatives, making them safe to consume and better for the environment. By supporting us, you support the initiative of small organic farms all over the nation who are trying to provide safe, quality produce to their communities.

What kinds of produce can I expect in my bag?

Produce offerings will vary based on the season. Spring bags (March through May) and Fall bags (September through November) might consist of carrots, lettuce, radishes, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, arugula, spinach, kale, mustard greens, Swiss chard, beets, bok choi, cabbage, kohlrabi, cilantro, fennel, pole beans, and peas. Summer bags (June through August) might consist of eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, melons, figs, squash, zucchini, potatoes, winter squash, basil and other herbs, radishes, arugula, pole beans and peas. And winter bags (December through February) might consist of collards, carrots, lettuce, radishes, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, arugula, spinach, kale, mustard greens, Swiss chard, beets, bok choi, cabbage, kohlrabi, cilantro, and fennel.

How long does the CSA last?

The minimum time commitment is one month with the option of signing up for two or three months at a time.

How much does the CSA membership cost?

It costs $120 for one month, $240 for two months, and $360 for three months.

Can I buy half shares?

Yes. You would get have the shares and it would be half the price per month.

When and where do I pick up my bag?

You will either pick your bag up on Friday afternoons from 3pm-7pm or at the drop off location your neighborhood coordinator has predetermined on Thursdays after 4pm.

When does the CSA start?

Our farm produces crops year-round so we do not have a set start and stop date. We let you decide when you would like to participate in the CSA program and you can start any week throughout the year! Your membership will last four, eight, or twelve weeks based on the length of time you would like to establish.

What if I am in Atlanta and want to join the CSA but do not have a neighborhood or office in which to organize the minimum amount of members?

Then you’re in luck because we already have two drop off locations established where anyone is able to pick up a CSA. They are the Savi Urban Markets in Brookhaven and Inman Park. We will drop off your bags on Thursdays and when you come to pick up your bag, just tell the clerk your name and that you have a Dillwood Farms CSA and he or she will bring it out for you. There is no minimum number of people for these drop off locations.

If I am my neighborhood’s CSA coordinator. Do I have to be home when my neighborhood’s produce is delivered?

No—we can leave the produce wherever you ask us to, preferably in a protected place at your home.

Do we need a certain number of people to start a Dillwood Farms CSA in our neighborhood?

We do our best to accommodate any request for a new CSA, but we prefer that a new CSA start with at least ten members.

Do you accept new CSAs from outside the Atlanta area?

At this time, we deliver only to Atlanta-area neighborhoods. Please contact us if you live outside but close to Atlanta, so we can determine whether we can deliver to you.

If we have a problem with our CSA delivery, what should we do?

Contact Haley Bryant immediately, and she will address the issue.

If you have questions or are ready to start your neighborhood CSA, call or email Haley Bryant at (404) 310-3111 or dillwoodfarms@yahoo.com.
